I have a couple of older laptops that use the 2242 M.2 SSDs. I ordered the KingSpec M.2 SATA SSD, 1TB 2242 SATA III 6Gbps Internal M.2 SSD (also from Amazon) and they work perfectly. There were no complaints about the KingSpec getting too hot, but there were comments on the model of laptop that the SSD space was cramped, not well ventilated, and unusable for those reasons. Trying to beat the odds, I ordered these graphene thermal pads to work with the KingSpec drives. So far so good. I ran linux sysbench on the drive for two hours and it didn't thermal throttle. This looks like a winning combination.
