Quartersawn presents a very beautiful and straight grain pattern that is sought by cabinet makers and furniture makers. However, the yield from the log is lower when it is cut this way, so it can be difficult to find and will cost more.Cherry (Prunus serotina) features heartwood in reddish-brown to deep red, with brown flecks, and will naturally darken with age. Cherry is known as being one of the best all-around woods for workability. It is stable, straight-grained, and machines well. Cherry is commonly used in furniture construction and turned items. Cherry has a decent strength-to-weight ratio, though it’s not as hard as some other denser domestic hardwoods. Grain runs with the longest dimension. USA.Size listed is nominal.Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project.Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.
