Like all Cloudlifters, the CL-X dramatically increases the sensitivity of your microphone, in order to fully capture the nuance and detail of the source. It is typical that many of the most incredible sounding microphones are the ones that need the most gain. Ribbon microphones, as well as dynamic and even tube mics can be difficult to amplify, even when you have high-gain preamps. Previously, it has been difficult to capture very quiet sources with these mics, without hearing noise generated by the preamp being driven into its upper gain range. Now, with the CL-X you can reach for the microphone that you love for its sound and tonal characteristics, without the limitation imposed by the gain requirements. A custom designed nickel core transformer dynamically responds to signal adding just the right touch harmonic content and saturation the more signal you give it. Provides up to +36 dB of ultra-clean gain in MAX mode and up to +12 dB with the output attenuator engaged.
